M/V Maggie N (Nugent, Louisville KY) for the 24th time - our 2nd most seen tow (T.C. Nugent II is #1) on the Ohio River at Madison, IN (5/18/2026).

Great day on the Ohio River Sunday with the riverboat rides at Vevay IN. Pushed upriver passed the KY Utilities Ghent Generating Station and saw several tows plus a bald eagle flying overhead (missed the photo op there).

At the power plant, we got views of M/V Stacy McCune, M/V Jennifer Kidd, M/V Double D, and M/V J.L. Braden.

We drove over Markland Dam on the way home to Madison and caught the M/V Larry Drummond in lockage.

Thanks to the great people at Vevay for putting this together as a fundraiser for the Switzerland County Foodbank.

M/V Donny Nolan (Kirby, New York NY) seen on the run from Vevay, IN (there for paddle wheel ride - more in other post) then we caught up with it later at Milton KY and Madison IN where it passed the Milton KY firefighters testing out their pumps (we assume) on the Madison side with river water and cooling off some kayakers. Always something happening at the river! The Nolan was a first for us.

M/V Michael W Draughn (first time for us) downbound on the Ohio River at Carroll, KY (while we were enjoying supper at Welch's Riverside Restaurant), then we passed it as we drove back to Madison, IN where we caught the upbound M/V Enid Dibert. Dinner and a barge - can't go wrong!

Queenan downbound on the Ohio River at Madison, IN plus some action at Markland Locks and Dam (shot from picnic area; access to observation tower was closed) - M/V Marietta pulling lead set of barges out of the short lock (could not see the tow) plus the M/V J.C. Thomas, a service barge, at work in the long lock.
