💧 What does 3 CCF of water actually look like?

For residential customers, there will be NO RATE INCREASE on the first 0–3 CCF of water usage beginning January 1, 2027.

3 CCF equals approximately 2,244 gallons of water. Using water-efficient fixtures and appliances can help you make every gallon go further.

To put 2,244 gallons into perspective, if that entire amount were used for just ONE of the activities below, it could provide approximately:

🚿 140 8-minute showers with a water-efficient showerhead
🚽 1,400 flushes with a 1.6-gallon toilet
👕 150 loads of laundry with a high-efficiency washing machine
🍽️ 700 loads with an efficient dishwasher

Water-efficient appliances and fixtures can make a big difference. Every drop counts! 💧

Each example is calculated separately and is for illustration only. Actual water use varies by fixture, appliance and household.

Flowing through the heart of Macon, the Ocmulgee River has supported generations of residents and continues to play an important role in our region.

It's a local favorite for tubing, sunbathing, afternoon fun, and we want to want to make sure it stays protected and continues to be a collective community resource.

You can help protect our river by:

• Preventing litter and pollution from entering stormwater drains
• Properly disposing of chemicals and household waste
• Reducing runoff from yards and driveways

Every action makes a difference in keeping our waterways clean and healthy.

Changes are coming in 2027. 💧

Beginning January 1, 2027, Macon Water Authority will implement a new tiered water and sewer rate structure.

Importantly, there will be NO rate increase for the first 0–3 CCF of water usage. Customers using more than 3 CCF will see the new rate apply to usage above that level.

Stormwater rates will also change from $4.99 to $7.00 per ERU.

Before & After: Poplar Street Lane Stormwater Improvements

Macon Water Authority completed major stormwater improvements at the intersection of Poplar Street Lane and Third Street in downtown Macon to help address flooding in the area.

The project included replacing aging stormwater infrastructure, installing new catch basins and reinforced-concrete storm pipe, repairing sidewalks and improving the roadway. Crews also rehabilitated the existing 72-inch brick culvert by applying a new protective lining to its interior.

Total project investment: $633,398

The construction and completed-project photos show the extensive work required beneath the street to improve drainage, reduce flooding risks and extend the life of this important downtown infrastructure.

⚠️ Water Outage Notification: Emergency Water Main Repair

Macon Water Authority is on-site repairing a 6-inch water main at 1500 Clinton Road.
The following areas may lose water or experience low water pressure:

-1190 Clinton Road through 1745 Clinton Road
-502 Shurling Drive
Please see the attached map.

This repair will take an estimated 6-8 hours to complete and will affect up to 12 locations. Once the service has been restored, these customers will be notified.

Our crews were hard at work at MLK Jr. Drive and Oglethorpe Street after locating a damaged 1-inch water line connection.

The repair has been completed, but we wanted to share a few behind-the-scenes photos of the work it took to get the job done.

⚠️Temporary Lane Closure: Water Leak Investigation

Please be advised that Macon Water Authority will be investigating a water leak at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Oglethorpe Street. To safely conduct the investigation and allow our crews to access the affected area, temporary lane closures will be in place near the intersection.

Motorists should expect reduced lanes, slower traffic, and possible short delays while our investigation is underway. Traffic control measures, including signage and cones, will be in place to direct vehicles and protect both the public and our field personnel.

We encourage drivers to use caution when approaching the work zone and, when possible, consider an alternate route.
