Travelers to northern Michigan region be advised - see 911/E.M. announcement attached....

Concerning the airport: today local flights were on hold due to ice. There is a NOTAM out (3/31) due to ice coverage on all surfaces. In addition, power across the island is variable and unreliable at this time, despite tireless efforts by crews.

(Thank you to all the first responders and power company/linesmen on the island and throughout the region cleaning up crippling storm damage - which in most places, has not ended yet. Be safe out there.)

** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ** ICE STORM EMERGENCY

Effective immediately, Mackinac County is under a STATE OF EMERGENCY due to severe ice storm damage that has caused widespread power outages, fallen trees, and downed power lines. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has declared a state of emergency for multiple Northern Michigan counties, including Mackinac County, in response to the storm’s impact.

Have sunshine, will fly!
It's shaping up to be a busy Labor Day weekend in a few weeks!...WAIT, is it October?!?
Peak fall colors, abnormal summer-like island breezes, and clear weather are keeping the airport staff busy this weekend!
We'll take it!

(Most lodging, shops, and attractions on the island close in just 1 week, around October 27th.)
