Along the horse nation highways.
When I met Winston he seemed to know exactly what was going on. He had been trailered before and he knew when he saw me that he was going somewhere. I’m not so sure he was happy about it either. Just look at those ears, the slant of his eyes, the stiffness in his lower lip. I had the impression that he was loved and quite happy right where he was.
In spite of that he loaded like a dream, such a gentleman even though he wasn’t happy about it.
Winston didn’t want to eat or drink along the way, and the road was looooooong. Thank goodness it wasn’t hot. I managed to tempt him and get him to eat some apples and a little alfalfa, but he didn’t touch our spring water. I stopped many, many times to check on him and offer him water. Nope. He was gentle but his cautious eyes told the story. A kind word and reassuring touch on the face and neck seemed to visibly soften him, so I gave him lots of that when I stopped.
Just like every woman, I love a happy ending. And ❤️ Winston ❤️ got his happy ending. When we made it to Sauquoit, NY, I’ve never seen a girl as delighted to see her horse for the first time! She was literally jumping for joy! And WOW what a nice place, beautiful barns, beautiful horses, beautiful turn out acreage, AND truly wonderful, caring people. They took him to a large stall with a great view, and gave him electrolytes because he wouldn’t drink for me.
Happy Tails Sweet Winston!
I feel so great inside seeing you get such a wonderful new home with lots of good love. ❤️. Nicole thank you so much for letting me help make this little girls dreams come true! He is an intelligent, engaging, gentle horse. She’s getting a good one. Indeed.
