Celebrating 25 years of accessibility, advocacy, and inclusion at LAX! 💙♿️

Yesterday, LAWA joined community members and airport partners to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Disability Access and Accommodation Advisory Committee (DAAAC). For a quarter century, the DAAAC has helped advocate for and address accessibility needs at LAX.

The celebration brought together more than 100 attendees and recognized Transportation Security Officer Priscila Gonzalez with the Samuel Overton Humanitarian Award of Excellence for her contributions to assisting people with disabilities.

Here’s to 25 years of progress and to continuing the work of creating a more accessible and welcoming LAX for all. ✈️💙

A handmade textile that tells a story of heritage, identity, and belonging.

Created by artist Shannon F., whose Navajo ancestry informs her perspective, this piece is part of the Welcome Blanket exhibition on the Terminal 4 Arrivals Level at LAX. Through her artwork, Shannon celebrates her rich cultural heritage while sharing a universal message: everyone deserves to feel a sense of belonging in the United States. Her blanket serves as a symbol of warmth, connection, and welcome for travelers and communities from all walks of life.

We’re honored to showcase Shannon’s work at LAX, where millions of journeys and stories intersect.

A taste of Taiwan arrived at LAX! ✈️🇹🇼

Recently, our friends at China Airlines teamed up with Michelin Guide-recognized restaurant Wenwen to treat guests to a special in-terminal experience featuring culinary inspiration, giveaways, and signed cookbooks from Chef Eric Sze. The collaboration celebrates the flavors, stories, and traditions that connect travelers across generations and across the Pacific.

Everyone deserves a poem. ✈️📝

Travelers at LAX recently had the chance to receive personalized poems written on the spot by Los Angeles Poet Laureate Brian Sonia-Wallace.

Presented in collaboration with the Los Angeles Public Library, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and the LAX Art Program — in celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month — this special event invited guests to pause, share a little about themselves, and watch their stories take flight through poetry.
