Online accessibility information doesn’t always tell you what you actually need to know. Before visiting a new hotel, attraction or venue, a quick call can help fill in the gaps.

A few questions worth asking:

• Where is the accessible entrance, and is it the same as the main entrance?
• What does the accessible parking and drop-off setup look like?
• Are there any stairs, steep grades or surfaces to know about along the route?
• Are elevators, lifts or accessible shuttles required to get around?
• For hotels: what does the room layout actually look like, and what accessibility features are included?

Flying to your destination and renting an accessible van?

Before reserving, confirm how vehicle pickup works at that specific location. An “airport-area” rental may not always mean the van is waiting at the terminal.

Ask:
