🚀 Ready for takeoff? Let Hawthorne be your next destination.

Metro Art Los Angeles is excited to unveil the newest addition to the ‘Through the Eyes of Artists’ series: Hawthorne by artist Álvaro Daniel Márquez.

Using traditional linocut images, Márquez carves out Hawthorne’s landscape with bold black and white imagery. A skyward-bound rocket and aircraft honor the city’s aviation and aerospace heritage, while the iconic water tower and boulevard mark Hawthorne’s evolving daily life. At the center of it all, a Metro bus glides through the scene – a familiar sight for countless riders who call Hawthorne home.

Márquez shares, "I spent many days in this community visiting friends and local businesses. I wanted to honor this city in my contribution to this poster series and highlight a Metro bus on Hawthorne Blvd., because many folks in the area will recognize this scene as part of their daily commutes."

A moment at Union Station with Nathanial Young✨

Earlier this year, Metro Art Los Angeles invited the incredibly talented Nathanial Young to bring his artistry to Los Angeles Union Station’s East Portal and we're still basking in the glow.

Performing in front of legendary LA muralist Richard Wyatt’s ‘City of Dreams’, Nathanial transformed the space into a sonic voyage, suspending the mundane into a memorable, meaningful moment, for Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority riders and jazz fans alike.

Step into PLAY! ⚽✨

Behold the new exhibition in the new Metro Art Passageway Gallery at Union Station, featuring large-scale photographs by artist Pelle Cass. Spanning 36 lightboxes, the exhibition transforms one of Los Angeles’ busiest public walkways into a luminous exploration of motion, time and collective experience.

Using thousands of photographs captured over hours of gameplay, Pelle Cass layers entire sporting events into singular compositions where athletes multiply, balls streak across the frame like constellations, and familiar courts, beaches and athletic fields become mesmerizing studies of motion.

Next time you’re at Union Station, PLAY invites you to pause, look closer and experience art in everyday life. It is truly a celebration of gathering, movement and play!
