Vendel Cox, who has been working here for almost thirty years, died on March 5th, 2024.
We will miss him very much.
He has been the rhythm section of this company, taking care of business in his own humble, dependable way. Never demanding the spotlight, always supportive and ready to step in to take care of anything that needed to be done.
Vendel would never let you down.
He was the first to know the names of all the people who assisted us; the men who delivered packing supplies, the lady who picked up discarded furniture, the janitor, the gardener. He knew them as people, not just what they did.
Vendel was patient, always ready to listen and, when needed, offer solid advice. He would never say anything behind your back that he wouldn't say to you directly to your face.
His decency, integrity and good humor will be sorely missed.
ABW will not be the same without him.

We received an email today offering to write fake reviews.
We work hard to earn the kind reviews our customers post.
I wonder how many companies just hire someone like this.

This is what the email said:

Most people aren't aware that credit card rewards, air miles, etc are not paid for by the banks that promise them. They come out of merchants' accounts; paid for by the small businesses that accept those credit cards.
We support The Credit Card Competition Act currently before the Senate which would end this practice.

Fuel prices will rise if there is a boycott of Russian oil. This will affect our cost of doing business.
I promise that we will NOT add any fuel surcharges to cover this additional cost.
We support Ukraine in its struggle against the Russian invasion and agree wholeheartedly with any and all sanctions on the Putin regime.
If that means making less money because of increased costs, then so be it.
How could I claim to support Ukraine if we simply pass the cost on to our customers?

Today received an email from some crooks offering to write bogus reviews from [email protected] titled "Get Your Free Review Today". Our reviews don't get filtered! Our reviews will stick! * My Moving Reviews $10 * Google Business Page $10 * Moving.com $10 * Home Advisor $10.
It must be so difficult as a consumer, trying to tell the fake ones from the real ones.

This year we promised to send $100 to a charity for each month in which someone writes us a positive review. This is the check for the Fistula Foundation.
Obstetric fistula is a devastating childbirth injury which renders the woman incontinent. Without surgery, women are often stigmatized, made to live outside their own homes, and isolated from their communities.
Fistula Foundation has worked in 31 countries across Africa and Asia, training surgeons, funding surgeries, building hospital infrastructure and providing post-operative care.

I am sad to say that we recently learned of the death of Charles "Chuck" Bailey.
Chuck started working for A Better Way to Move in 1990 at a time when our office was just one of the bedrooms in my two bedroom apartment. He was still with us when we moved our office to our current location in 2006.
He had to stop working for us that year; his deteriorating eyesight meant he could no longer safely drive to work.
Unfortunately his poor eyesight made it hard for him to watch movies, which had always been one of his great pleasures.
He was also an actor and continued to audition for parts after he left us. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0047203/
