Finally, this is being discussed in Congress. The talked about the need for prison libraries within correctional facilities and the importance in having books available has been my sounding card for the past 21 years in selling books to prisons. 1st positive is keeping inmates occupied, the next is to ensure no contraband will ever come from my company and lastly our cost 1/3 to 1/2 less the cost if you would spend, compared to the large bookstores. It's great to see the BOP is trying to keep up and get a handle during the age of Drones and A.I. Keep making us retirees proud of "We Won't Back Down" thinking. It's also nice to read Georgia Dept of Corrections was involved. I started my career there at Reidsville in 1979.

I worked at FCI El Reno from 1984 until 1989, when I transferred to USP Marion. El Reno was without question one of my favorite facilities to work at, during my career.

Thanks to all the contributors dealing with Corrections. On many Correctional Facebook post, I see many prison pages, where the administrators use the posts for political beliefs. The people in corrections don't need politics, they need new ways to deal with doing their jobs. Inspiration in get the job done right and what it's like to stand behind your co-workers, and most of all they need faith. Faith in God, faith in the administration and faith they will come home and not bring they work with them. If you have those three things you and your family's life will be wonderful and greatly appreciated. You see I didn't even mention my company!!!!!!!!!

Came across an article that was written by Sports Illustrated back in the 1980's. I thought people would enjoy, but there was an underlying issue as to what I did at FCI El Reno. Keep inmates occupied, weightlifting inmates try to stay out of SHU, so not to miss a workout and allow their competition to catch up to their level. It's a pdf so you have to click on it twice to read the article, but this is how, in my opinion how prisons should operate.

I am not saying I agree with this article, simply because I don't have access to check these action out. Not having a good understanding as to AI and their ability to mess through the truth, but a lot of this makes sense on the funding and the repercussions that could follow.

The concept of reducing, managing, controlling, tracking, prison recidivism has been a topic for many years. After 25 years working in prisons and managing my small business selling literature to prisons only going on 21 years, that makes 46 years on the topic just with me. I have drawn a couple of conclusions. First, I don't believe we track releasing inmates as well as we should or could. During my years as a Unit Manager, when we had an inmate in the Release Preparation Program (RPP), we send out notifications to all law enforcement in our network on dates depending on their release. During those years, I can't tell you how many times, in a month, two weeks, to a week before release when a WRIT is filed on charges we never knew about. It would become difficult to do, but one register number assignment should be assigned to convicted felons; that would stay with them until they pass away. Much smarter people than I could accomplish this, and then we could say we have accurate tracking to see what works. In my opinion, the other way to improve and enhance the reduction of recidivism is education. Below is an article, written by an inmate currently housed in a prison.

Here's a great article about the Director of The Bureau of Prison and the direction he's moving towards enhancing security. Again contraband is one of the major concerns in the orderly running of a prison. Buying your books from me, eliminates one of the many avenues used to introduce drugs. Well done Correction1
