It is with bittersweet emotions that after 40 years in the marine industry and 36 years of being in business, I have decided to retire. My goal is to spend more time restoring my old boats and engines, to travel and enjoy life. Once we lease or sell the Boatwrench building we will obviously be moving out.
In our years of business, we have serviced over approximately 30,000 boats, rebuilt over 5,000 outdrives and repowered over 2,000 boats with new motors.
It has taken a huge team of people to make our business a successful one and it has been an absolute blessing to have been able to build so many special relationships over the years with customers, businesses and employees.
Thank you to Larry Hutt, Garry Simms, Les Barkley and Bill Southworth - great teachers, mentors, instructors and friends. Your lessons, advice and friendships have always been and are now today appreciated beyond words.
I have also been extremely fortunate to have had incredible opportunities to work closely with Volvo Penta and my dear friend Bob Crocker, with Regal Marine Industries and Chaparral Boats. Also, special thanks to Roy Layton and Jared Woodall of Pleasurecraft Marine, Steve Van D**e of Tohatsu, Tim Wilkerson of Evinrude and Margie Perleberg of Mercury Marine.
It was an honor to be on the radio for 19 years promoting safety, maintenance and repairs. Thank you to my radio show partner Dan Watson of Amsoil Synthetics, and many thanks to all of our sponsors for supporting us over the years, especially Captain Kerry Kline of Sea Tow, Kirby Mullins of Seminole Power Sports and D&J Lawnmower.
To all of our valued customers over the years – thank you for the privilege of entrusting us to take care of your boat and you’re boating needs and for all the friendships that were born during this time.
To our loyal employees – thank you for the dedication and service you have given to Boatwrench. I am beyond grateful for each and every one of you.
One of our former top employees, Ben Vacarelli, now has a mobile marine service business called WaterBorne Techs and is doing service for our outboard customers.
For sterndrive customers, I recommend calling Jennifer at Boat Tree Marina in Sanford.
Words cannot express what an amazing journey this has been. God is Good and May God Bless You All.
