Pardon our dust! With the Passenger Concourse Enhancement Project underway, we wanted to provide some info on what’s happening around LGB ✈️🌴:

Construction is moving forward on our Garden Area and Outdoor Seating improvements. In the Garden Area, construction began on April 21, and demolition wrapped up on May 8, with earthwork, excavation, backfilling, and utility trenching currently underway. Looking ahead, crews will be placing concrete and installing an extended canopy in the Garden Area, while demolition and earthwork continues in the Outdoor Seating Area.

Today, we welcomed Southwest Airlines’ Boeing 737‑8 MAX, N871HK — “The Herbert D. Kelleher.”

This remarkable aircraft is a flying tribute to Southwest co‑founder Herb Kelleher, whose legacy continues to shape the airline and aviation industry. Painted in the iconic Desert Gold livery and carrying a meaningful tail number—871 honoring Southwest’s first revenue flight on June 18, 1971, and HK for Herb’s initials—this aircraft is filled with history, heart, and heritage. 💛❤️💙
