The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently. As a CDL Class-A driver, you will be responsible for transporting goods from one location to another in a safe and timely manner.
Requirements:
* Proven work experience as a recent CDL Class A truck driver (minimum 2 years)
* Clean driving record; no major violations
* Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, Digital Logbooks, etc.)
* Ability to drive long hours and distances regularly
* Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and safety regulations
* Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
Responsibilities:
* Transport goods from one location to another in a safe and timely manner
* Perform routine preventative inspections of vehicle, equipment and supplies to ensure road safety
* Plan routes and meet delivery schedules
* Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
* Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods, etc.) as well as with company policies and procedures
* Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
* Make sure the load is strapped/secured for transport before departing shipper
* Collect Bills of Lading, verify delivery instructions and gather all necessary Proof of Delivery paperwork and signatures
* Report defects, accidents or violations
