A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota until 3 AM CDT

The Level 3 of 5 (Enhanced) risk for severe storms has expanded south for this evening into tonight, now covering most areas west of Vermillion to Sioux Falls to Ivanhoe Minnesota. Large hail of 2 inches or larger will be the primary threat with initial storms in the early evening, with the threat transitioning to damaging wind gusts to 75 mph as storms move east and northeast later evening into the overnight hours. Isolated tornadoes are also possible. Have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially at night.

Dangerous heat and humidity peak today as heat indices climb as high as 95 to 105 degrees this afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect, mainly for areas along and south of I-90. Be sure to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon to early evening, and take periodic breaks from the heat.

With dry and breezy conditions expected on Thursday, critical fire concerns are expected for parts of the area. With this in mind, a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for areas east of Highway-281 on Thursday.
