A note from our Owner and President, Cary Martin…
A big thanks to the VFW, Terry Daniell for the nomination, and the many military veterans on our team!
Little Rock Coaches searches for veterans to hire in all positions. We value the general work ethic, reliability, dependability, integrity, and sense of purpose and well-being found in most military veterans. Being the son of an Air Force Dad who served his country for 20 years, I have a strong allegiance to my flag and the men and women who fight for our freedom and principles.
We are one of several operating motorcoach companies nationally certified by the Department of War, and operating under the Military Bus Agreement. We regularly provide transport to our active military and National Guard for training at Fort Chaffee, Camp Robinson, and military installations in surrounding states. Many of our drivers are veterans, and they consider it an honor to be able to salute and transport soldiers. They usually start their trip with an expression of gratitude to the passengers who are giving up their weekends to train for the National Guard. We have also in the past honored contracts to provide transportation for MEPS in Arkansas and Texas. And we have provided free shuttles on Memorial Day for many years… for events held at the National Cemetery in Little Rock.
We have a Shop Manager who is a former marine and spent several years on a submarine. We have a mechanic that served in Special Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of our drivers served in the Vietnam War and Iraq War. We also have several military wives in the office. In short, the Red White and Blue is a common theme in our office, and in our conversations. We value our veterans!
The letter of nomination from one of our drivers…
It is with great pleasure that the VFW Members of Hot Springs VFW Post 2278 nominates Little Rock Coaches/Champion Coaches - Little Rock Tours for the VFW Employer of the year award. This company is extremely Veteran service oriented. In fact, 40% of their employees are Military Veterans or they are currently serving in the National Guard or the Reserves. Cary Martin, owner of the company, has stated several times he believes Veterans are disciplined and service oriented. His belief is that Veterans pay great attention to detail, and they are extremely safety conscious. He has observed that Veterans also make sure their uniforms are pressed and polished. Mr. Martin is always willing to work with veterans and service personnel to allow them time off for drill weekends and annual training. As a part time employee, I have always been allowed time off to attend VFW activities and conferences. Little Rock Coaches and Champion Coaches have a lot of Military Excursions where we must move military personnel in a timely and efficient manner. Management tries extremely hard to make sure veteran drivers oversee these moves because Veterans know how important it is to meet time demands and give military personnel the respect they have earned and deserve.
For these and many other reasons, I am a part-time employee for this company. I am always treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. I have been driving part time for Little Rock coaches for more than 5 years and often recommend other veterans to this company. Little Rock Coaches / Champion Coaches is very dedicated to Veterans and they have always been a joy to work with. I respectfully request that the committee take a very strong look at this award-winning company that has won numerous business awards.
