🚒 Rescue 1 is back in service!

After completing some routine repairs, Rescue 1 has officially returned to service. A big thank you to our friends at Reading Regional Airport for loaning us Rescue 3 while ours was out of service.

You’ve probably seen the classic red fire engine, but have you ever seen a truck built specifically for aircraft emergencies?

Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) trucks are specially designed to respond to incidents involving aircrafts. You may also notice that our ARFF trucks are painted bright green/yellow instead of red. This highly visible color to help pilots and ground crews quickly identify ARFF vehicles on the airfield, improving safety and response during emergencies.

A piece of Lancaster Airport history came down today.
The airport beacon that has stood watch over LNS since 1935 was removed and replaced. For 90 years, that beacon guided pilots home through fog, snow, and everything else Lancaster County weather could throw at it.
We'll miss the silhouette of the original. There's something special about a beacon that has been doing its job since before World War II. It's not something you replace lightly. But 90 years is an incredible run, and it was time to pass the torch.
Now, a new beacon takes up the watch, ready to guide the next generation of pilots flying in and out of Lancaster. Thanks to the Lancaster Airport maintenance team, Baseline King, and Delta Airport Consultants, Inc. for helping make today's changeover happen safely and smoothly.
