Spring is in the air and hopefully Covid is on the downward slope. Domestic travel is making a big comeback since traveling outside the US is still a bit challenging . There are some awesome deals coming out of Vegas for this spring. The infection rates in the state are down and hopefully will continue that way. As the numbers stay down the occupancy rates go up ! The state has a mask mandate as do most states. Social distancing and sanitizing remain important. Most shows and pools will be opening by mid March .
This spring break may be the time to start venturing out. Four days / three nights at the Excaliber is under $500.00 ! Mid April stays for the same length of time at the Park MGM are also under $500.00 !
If you want to stay closer to home Michigan has so many great places. Traverse City is always a fun stay , Holiday Inn Express is $299.00 and Hotel Indigo is coming in at $ 529.00 for March 29/ April 1. Detroit is ever changing and exciting and a stay at the Hilton Garden Inn is $ 313.00 , Courtyard Downtown is $ 675.00 and the beautiful Renaissance Center Marriott is $ 950.00 . Kalamazoo has the awesome Air-Zoo and so many other cool places . The Holiday Inn and Suites West is a great place to stay at $ 305.00 as well as the Candlewood Suites at $320.00 .
If you have any questions you can reach me by phone or text at 989-529-5217 , email at [email protected] or on this page. Thanks and enjoy this beautiful sunny day !

We’ve all probably driven up the “Sunnyside “of our state. US 23 is a pretty busy road with so many cool opportunities. It’s amazing to me how much that area has grown and changed since my kids were little. Between Linwood and the Alpena area are some cool things to do with your family .Ossineke is a tiny little town near Oscoda that is inhabited by Dinosaurs ! Dinosaur village is such a cute little park. I remember the first time we went there when my oldest was two years old , 43 years ago!! We’ve been back several times over the years . The last time being in 2019. The park fell to disrepair for a bit of time but has since been brought back to all of its former splendor. And while you’re in that part of the state you can go to the Greenbush area to collect Petoskey stones. Yes ,right on the beaches of Lake Huron , Petoskey stones !! I love it!! If you have time and make it as far north as Alpena you have to check out the shipwrecks .We took a boat tour out over some of the wrecks and honestly it could’ve lasted twice as long as it did and I still would’ve wanted to learn more. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life , been to Alpena countless times and until just a few years ago never realized the mysteries that Thunder Bay held. Go just a bit farther north to the P. H. Hoeft State Park by Rogers City . Walk the beach for about a mile past some private homes and look for Sacred Rock . You can’t miss it , it’s huge , right at the waters edge. Legend has it that two Indian tribes fought over the boundary to their hunting grounds there . Kitchie Manitou , the Great Spirit , dropped the huge boulder on the two chiefs to stop them from going to war. It is said that when it rains their blood weeps from out of the rock. Makes you want to go in the rain ,doesn’t it? This area may have to be our next field trip – Michigan history class.

Hello friends , The travel industry has suffered tremendously in the last few months . Vacations were cancelled , cruiseliners stuck at sea unable to come back to port , airlines , hotels even whole countries have been shut down . No one could ever dream this could happen in this day and age .... but it did ! As we slowly start to open up and realize what our new normal may look like we are all feeling a little antsy . Everything in our lives looks different grocery shopping , going to church , vacations , even kids going to school or not going to school. My stars I haven’t been to target or hobby lobby in six months!! There’s not a better time or motivator to explore our great state. We can drive anywhere in Michigan in three hours or less and find some truly unbelievable things. Did you know that there’s an ice cream trail? It loops through southern mid Michigan and include stops in Ann Arbor , Shelby Township , Grand Rapids and of course the MSU dairy store. Can you imagine a day trip like that? I dare say just as wonderful or maybe even better than a wine tour! Lots of us have gone to the Caribbean or Hawaii and flown in a helicopter over beautiful blue waters or majestic mountains. Do you know you can do that here in Michigan? Can you imagine flying over the Mackinac Bridge? Absolutely spectacular! I think it’s natural for us to take for granted what we have available to us in our own great state. Foreign lands and cultures have so much appeal and intrigue and it’s really important to dream and plan those trips for 2021 - 2022 and beyond! But for right now let’s visit places we can drive to ( no more stuck at sea! ) feel safe at and totally enjoy right here in our state. I’m pretty sure every kid will need a field trip soon . As difficult as school is for us to wrap our heads around face-to-face ,virtual or hybrid it breaks my heart to think with their little hearts and minds are going through. I’m thinking maybe a field trip to John Ball Park zoo in Grand Rapids and a stop at Pinkies for some awesome ice cream. The lines will be a bit longer ( cause we are all 6 foot apart) and it might take a little more planning with most zoos and museums taking reservations but after we walk through that gate we are having a blast and a science lesson!! I’m going to start posting some little known fun and interesting things to do in Michigan and maybe beyond. If you like what you see share it even better do it !! We are all looking for some normalcy and freedom right now. What better way to enjoy both than to explore right here where you live.
