There’s a difference between providing a service and actually serving people.

Moving is technically the service we sell.

But serving people is different.

Serving is noticing the customer is overwhelmed and slowing down long enough to reassure them.

It’s seeing something that needs done and doing it without being asked.

It’s treating someone’s belongings like they matter because you understand that they matter to them.

It’s helping the new guy instead of watching him struggle.

It’s staying a little longer to help another crew finish.

It’s answering the phone and actually listening instead of trying to get through the call.

It’s remembering that the person standing in front of you might be going through a divorce, moving their parents into assisted living, starting over in a new city, grieving a loss, buying their first home, or celebrating a new beginning.

We happen to be movers. But our job gives us an opportunity to serve people during some pretty significant moments in their lives.

And I think there’s a huge difference between teaching someone how to move furniture and teaching someone what it means to serve.

We can teach the first one.

Any of you on here that follow us remember when we used to push snow in the early years? We have been going strong since 2016, growing steadily and always finding new ways to be better. We definitely do not do snow removal anymore, but before we quit we definitely had a really good flow and system of it. Today, we do moving packing and temporary storage, which id say is much more up our alley.

📦 WHAT SHOULD YOU NOT PACK IN A MOVING TRUCK?

Not everything in your house belongs on the moving truck.

There are a few things we recommend keeping with you personally during your move:

💊 Medications
💵 Cash, wallets and valuables
📄 Important documents
🔑 Keys
💻 Small electronics you may need immediately
📱 Phones and chargers
🪪 IDs, passports and other important paperwork
🧸 A few essentials for kids
🐾 Anything your pets will need
🧻 A small “first night” box with toiletries, clothes and necessities

There are also certain hazardous, flammable or potentially dangerous items that moving companies may not be able to transport.

Think gasoline, propane, certain chemicals and other flammable materials.

One of our favorite moving tips?

Pack a bag like you’re staying somewhere overnight.

Even if everything goes perfectly, you probably don’t want to dig through 47 boxes at 10 PM trying to find your toothbrush, phone charger and clean underwear. 😂

A little planning before moving day can make that first night in your new home MUCH easier.

And if you’re ever unsure whether something can go on the moving truck, ask your moving company before moving day.

📦 WHAT DO MOVERS WISH CUSTOMERS KNEW BEFORE MOVING DAY?

A few small things can make a BIG difference in how smoothly your move goes.

Here are some of the biggest ones:

✔️ Have boxes packed, closed and ready to go before the movers arrive.

✔️ Clearly separate anything you’re taking with you personally: medications, keys, important documents, chargers, wallets, etc.

✔️ Let your moving company know about heavy or unusual items ahead of time. Safes, pianos, exercise equipment and oversized furniture can require different equipment or additional movers.

✔️ Tell us about stairs, elevators, long walks or tricky parking when you’re getting your estimate.

✔️ Don’t forget the garage, basement, attic, shed or outdoor furniture when telling us what needs moved.

✔️ If something isn’t going, mark it! A simple “DO NOT MOVE” note can save a lot of confusion.

And probably the biggest one:

The more your moving company knows BEFORE moving day, the better they can prepare for your move.

An accurate estimate isn’t just about giving you a price.

It helps us determine how many movers you need, how much truck space you need, what equipment to bring and how much time we should reserve for your move.

HOW MANY MOVERS DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED? 📦

2 movers? 3? 4? 6?

More movers doesn’t automatically mean a more expensive move.

In fact, having the right size crew can make a move more efficient and sometimes save you money.

When we’re determining how many movers a job needs, we’re looking at things like:

• How much furniture and how many boxes you have
• Stairs, elevators and long walks
• Heavy or specialty items
• How much disassembly/reassembly is needed
• The size of the truck
• How far we’re traveling between locations
• How quickly the move needs to be completed

A small apartment may only need two movers.

A larger home might be much better suited for four or more movers so we’re not asking a smaller crew to do an eight-hour job that could have been completed much faster.

That’s also why an accurate moving estimate matters.
