At the end of March, we hosted Lexington Fire Department recruits for an eight-hour class designed to introduce them to ARFF. This class is an important training opportunity for fire departments in areas surrounding airports, especially those responsible for responding to smaller general aviation airports.

Check out what we were up to last Tuesday in our March ARFF 100 course! Tuesdays in ARFF 100 are all about familiarizing students with the basics of aircraft rescue firefighting. Students get classroom instruction in the morning focused on safety systems and hazards, while the afternoon is focused on hands-on training with handlines and evacuations. Preparation like this is important before the firefighters move on to full-scale scenarios later in the week.
