ITNBluegrass Senior transportation The Independent Transportation Network® does more than just provide rides for senior adults and adults with visual impairments.

It helps to solve a huge social need. Because of ITNBluegrass, seniors in our area now have an alternative to driving that both preserves their independence ensures the safety of our roads and the health of our communities. ITNBluegrass helps many aspects of the individual, the family, and the community. Among these are:

ITNBluegrass is beginning to celebrate it's 20th anniversary. In July of 2006, Gale Reece applied to be an affiliate of ITNAmerica. It took 2 years of fundraising and changing legislation to give our first ride in July 2008, BUT we are still going - over 140K rides!

We were bragging about our excellent volunteers, and DQ sent us 10 coupons for free Dilly Bars to hand out to them!

(These w̶e̶r̶e̶ are intended for our volunteers. It is PURELY COINCIDENTAL that my gut is currently 10 Dilly Bars bigger.)

Every new vehicle means more safe, reliable rides for the older adults we serve. 🚗💙

Thanks to the generous support of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels iTNBluegrass was able to trade in one of our older vehicles and purchase a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, helping us continue providing dignified transportation throughout our community.

A special thank you to John Maynard, our Operations Manager, for negotiating the purchase, and to Zach Shuping and the team at Don Franklin Nicholasville Hyundai for helping make it happen.

Some of you may already know John Maynard from his time as a volunteer driver. Now, we're excited to share that he's stepping into a new role as operations manager at iTNBluegrass!

John joined iTNBluegrass as a volunteer driver in 2022 and has spent countless hours serving our riders with care and compassion. Before that, he built an impressive career in accounting, business operations, and consulting, with experience that includes the U.S. Navy, Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses.

John's firsthand understanding of our mission, combined with his professional expertise, makes him a wonderful fit for this role. Please join us in congratulating John on this exciting new chapter!
