Backed into the dock two hours ago. Still waiting.
Every minute sitting here is a minute you're not making money, but the fuel bill doesn't care that you're stuck. Detention pay exists for exactly this reason β and too many carriers either don't know they're owed it or don't have anyone actually fighting to collect it.
That's not a small thing. Two hours of detention on a slow month is the difference between a decent week and a rough one.
A dispatcher's job isn't just booking the load. It's making sure you get paid for every hour that load actually costs you β including the ones spent sitting still.
Dry van, flatbed, step deck, hotshot. If you're not getting paid for your time, someone's not doing their job.
No contracts. DM DISPATCH β let's make sure detention isn't just a line you hope gets honored.
