SCIT PRO 2.0.9358.32780 is now available!

This release fixes a whole number rounding error when inputting fractional values for hail size in the FILTER section. You can now enter values with a decimal point (i.e. .5, .75, etc.)

This release corrects a fatal I/O error when the ALTERNATE REFERENCE option is selected with no valid Lat/Long data entered.

SCIT PRO 2.0 build (2.0.8260.27547) now available!

This release is correcting an issue with un-encrypted email passwords being seen by those snooping the bin files on local machines. We now are encrypting the email password to protect your privacy.

NOTE! This insecure access was only occurring on local machines. We do NOT transmit any password information across the wire to our servers.

Yesterday, we put a new SCIT PRO build up on the website. While doing further testing we found that the longitude point for the ALTERNATE REFERENCE LOCATION was dropping the fractional portion of the value. Ex. -76.293 would become -76. This would have a huge effect if you're using the CLOSEST POINT OF APPROACH (CPA) filter setting. The filter would not properly calculate the correct CPA for you specific location, causing the system to NOT alert you to any storm in you area.

You can verify if the longitude is keeping the decimal portion by checking in the CONFIGURATION screen.

We have placed a new build up on the site to correct this issue. The build version is 2.0.8239.39510.

1) Addition of new VCP modes and deletion of old VCP modes.

2) Tightened up timing of data retrieval of SCIT data.

3) Fixed issue with incorrect radar status report time.

4) General code condensing and cleanup.

NOTICE:

After working with the NWS Telecommunications folks on a long standing issue of the reoccurring FTP Faults in SCIT PRO, It appears that the issue is NOT with SCIT PRO but with a local router setup.

For those who are still experiencing this issue, make sure your router is set up and pointed to a valid DNS server so that proper name translations can take place.

We understand that many users were experiencing too many FTP faults while downloading SCIT data from the NWS servers. We have been in discussions with the NWS Telecommunications branch to determine the cause and find a remedy to the issue. We have modified the code to extend the connection timeouts and also increase the number of retries on each failed FTP download. During a week long test period, we have not seen any faults...
