The District continues to work directly with the Lee County Emergency Operations Center as we prepare for Hurricane Milton’s arrival to Southwest Florida. As landfall is now expected from tomorrow to Thursday morning, we don’t anticipate there will be sufficient time to close shelter sites, assess all buildings, and ensure their safety for reopening by Friday.
Out of an abundance of caution and with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority, the District has made the decision to continue all school and District office closures through Friday, October 11, 2024. This includes all previously scheduled events. However, principals, additional administrators, building supervisors, and other critical personnel are expected to continue to perform their emergency situation duties, as outlined in the District’s Hurricane Preparedness Plan.
Please ensure that you adhere to your area evacuation recommendations and procedures and that you have made all the preparations to keep you and your families safe. Lee County Government has information available on evacuation zones, shelters, safety tips, among other resources, on their website at https://www.leegov.com/.
Thank you and stay safe.
