I’ve seen so many posts of people needing their mobile homes re-leveled before repairs are started. Especially doublewides that have shifted or have other foundation issues. Just keep in mind that just because someone is a licensed contractor that doesn’t mean they are qualified or even legally able to level/reset your home. If your in need of work ask a few questions to see what their knowledge is. Ask them what government office issues the license for a Manufactured Housing Installer? Then ask some technical questions on set-up. After all, if they are qualified to level your home, they should be qualified to block as well. Ask what process they use to find out how far out of level your home is and to explain it to you in detail, Ask them some general questions on State Guidelines Ask about what type of wood should be used between I-Beam and blocks, ask how the two halves are attached together, if they know what type fasteners are used ask what is the required spacing for the fasteners, find out what they know about the marriage line of a double wide(where the two are attached), ask if there should be anything between the two halves and what could happen to the home if nothing is installed, ask if there is anything in particular an inspector would look for concerning grounding of the doublewide, find out what they know about resolving a problem when the roof line doesn’t match up when two halves are put together, ask about possible ways the two halves are attached on the ridge cap? These are just a few things that a truly qualified installer must know. If they don’t know these basic questions(much more to know) then they are not who you need to level or set your home.
