Looking to get a bit more performance out of your Yamaha VX TR1 WaveRunner without breaking the bank? Call, Text or Message 727-439-8088
Yamaha VX models equipped with the TR1 engine are known for reliability, but one question we hear consistently is:
“What can be done to improve performance?”
To answer that properly, we conducted extensive real-world testing over the winter. We evaluated seven different impellers—including OEM, Solas, and Adonis options—under controlled conditions. Each test was performed with the same rider, fuel level, and water conditions, while tracking RPM and speed via GPS.
Through this process, we identified an Adonis impeller that delivered the most efficient balance of RPM and top-end performance.
To further enhance airflow, we paired this with a Riva ribbon delete kit. After installing both components, we repeated the testing on two separate Yamaha VX TR1 skis under identical conditions. The results were consistent:
• Noticeably improved throttle response
• Stronger acceleration out of the hole
• Increase in top speed from approximately 45 mph to 50–51 mph
These gains were achieved through a combination of optimized impeller pitch and improved intake airflow—not guesswork, but verified results.
It’s important to note that overall performance can also be influenced by factors such as:
• Jet pump condition (including wear ring wear)
• Fuel injector cleanliness
• General engine health
