TowBoatUS Tampa Bay is seeking a PART time USCG LICENSED captain to provide marine assistance to boaters in Tampa Bay. The candidate must possess superior boat handling skills and a willingness to learn the policies and operational procedures required of all TowBoatUS captains. The position involves towing disabled vessels, fuel drops, battery jumps, ungrounding and salvage services. This position is part time and would involve being on call Tuesday through Sunday every other week. There is flexibility in scheduling with other Captains. This position would pay approximately $40,000-$45,000/ year.
Captains who seek this position must possess the following:
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to enrollment in a random drug testing program.
Valid USCG MASTERS license with Assistance Towing endorsement.
Excellent twin engine boat handling skills.
Ability to use electronic technology to efficiently provide service.
Professional appearance and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Able to commit to working nights, weekends, and holiday hours.
Able to serve on a 26 foot towboat for up to 12 hours within a 24-hour period.
Be comfortable being exposed to harsh weather conditions and rough seas.
Live, or be willing to relocate, within about 10 miles of Gandy ramp in Tampa. Captain must be underway within 30 minutes of an assistance dispatch.
Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
Dive certifications are a plus.
