El trágico tiroteo en la escuela de Uvalde, TX ayer golpeó muy de cerca a muchos miembros de la familia FTS. Además de ser el hogar de algunos conductores actuales y anteriores de FTS, Uvalde está a solo alrededor de 1 hora de nuestra terminal en Eagle Pass, TX. Es un lugar que la mayoría de nosotros hemos pasado o visitado muchas veces.

Tenemos entendido que, además de las oraciones, el recurso más necesario para el área actualmente es la donacion sangre. Hay muchas campañas de donación de sangre que se llevarán a cabo alrededor del área de Uvalde y Eagle Pass durante los próximos días y el fin de semana. Le pedimos a cualquiera de nuestros conductores que pueda y quiera donar sangre que lo haga. Si está en casa o estará en casa durante los próximos días y necesita transporte hacia o desde una campaña de donación de sangre, está aprobado para usar su camión FTS.

Además, para cualquier empleado que sea padre de un familiar de alguien afectado por esta tragedia, comuníquese directamente con Kyle o Todd y se le proporcionará cualquier ayuda financiera posible.

Due to the winter storm most of the mid-west region has encountered over the last couple of days, We at FTS would like to inform our fellow drivers to be cautious about safety and how to prevent any slips or falls.

Slips and falls are the cause of nearly 50% of all critical injuries in the trucking industry. Pay special attention to your surroundings when entering and exiting your truck.

Most falls from trucks are related due to driver error, failure to follow the 3-point contact rule, or also by not wearing the proper footwear.

To prevent slips,trips or falls, Always remember to:
• Wear shoes with good support—not sandals, bare feet or high heels.
• Exit and enter your truck while facing the cab.
• Slow down and use extra caution in bad weather.
• Get a firm grip on rails and handles with your hands.
• Look for obstacles on the ground before exiting.
• Don’t rush to climb out after a long run and always descend slowly to avoid pulling a muscle.
• Don’t ever jump out. You may land off balance or on an uneven surface and fall.
• Don’t use tires or wheel hubs as a step surface.
• Don’t use unauthorized handholds such as door frames or door edges.

FTS would like to remind everyone to drive safely during this winter storm..

Travel Alert: Accumulating Ice and Snow Forecast

Missouri Governor Mike Parson has declared a State of Emergency, and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is advising all motorists to travel only on major routes through the end of the week as a powerful winter storm is predicted to severely impact travel statewide.

A mixed bag of precipitation is forecast, and some areas could receive accumulating freezing rain, ice, and sleet ahead of 12+ inches of snowfall.

Areas south of U.S. 50 are forecast to receive up to one-half inch of ice.

This storm is also forecast to be long in duration, spanning more than 24 hours. Due to staffing and sickness, MoDOT is expecting it to take longer to return roads to a mostly clear status after the storm ends.

MoDOT recommends all commercial drivers to plan ahead, identify several warm, safe locations along the route where they can exit the highway and wait for travel conditions to improve. Do not try to detour on secondary or tertiary roads.

Pay attention to message board warnings for posted conditions and possible delays ahead.

Always consult the Traveler Information Map to know the conditions along your route.

80% of all the motorists on the road have no idea what a semi truck blind spot is. The other 20% are on their cell phone. Always assume they are paying attention to everything but the road and we will all be safer that way.
