Hey everyone. Thought I’d post since I have been getting a lot of messages from people. In August I resigned from driving a school bus after 13 years with the school system. It was definitely a tough decision for me. I enjoyed my route, my coworkers, the field trips, and mostly my students (routes and field trips). For a while I was definitely rough for me, since I had dedicated so much of my time driving and coordinating field trips. I’ve been blessed to have meet so many people and enjoyed watching students as they grew. They became my “kids”. I was getting calls and texts and Facebook message from parents and teachers asking when I was coming back to driving. When I would run into students they would beg for me to come back. Which then had me doubting myself questioning if I made the right decision in leaving. But it was a decision that was best for me and my family.
I became full time with Acadian ambulance as an EMT. I love my job. I never know what my day will be like or who I will run into. But I still run into students when I work football games and other events. . I’m even luckily enough to work with some former students of mine. Im still training but in stead of bus drivers I train emt students on their clinical and new hires.
Last year, We started an Explorer program in our area (Acadian Explorer- SWLA Post 1971) Which is design for high school age students who are interested or might be interested in going into the medical field. Which has been a blessing and still gives me the opportunity to work with young adults.
I’m a CPR/First Aid Instructor and teaches public and private classes throughout the year.
I’m truly blessed with all my “fans” who have reached out to me to see how I’m doing, who run up to me when they see me out and about. I’m thankful for each and everyone of you and hope our paths crossed again soon.
