Most guests know Gertie today as Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
What many people do not realize is that Gertie is actually a tribute to Gertie the Dinosaur, a groundbreaking animated character from 1914 created by Winsor McCay. Walt Disney often cited early animation pioneers as inspiration, and Gertie represents an important piece of animation history. 🦖 Gertie is one of the few Hollywood Studios icons that celebrates animation history before Walt Disney Animation Studios even existed.
For Disney adults especially, this is exactly the kind of detail that makes Hollywood Studios more interesting than it first appears. 🎬
The park is filled with tributes, hidden references, and stories that most guests walk past without ever noticing.

Disney Confession Time... 👀

It took me WAY too many trips to Walt Disney World before I finally walked into Mickey's PhilharMagic in Fantasyland.
Honestly, I have no idea why I kept skipping it. Now? I never miss it.

Not only is it a fun 3D show featuring some of my favorite Disney characters and songs, but it is also one of the best places to take a break in the air conditioning during a busy Magic Kingdom day. Sometimes I even find myself going twice in the same day! 😂

It is one of those attractions that many guests walk right past, but once you give it a chance, it quickly becomes a favorite.

Most guests stop for a photo with Walt and Mickey... but have you ever taken a picture with Roy and Minnie? 📸

While the Partners Statue in front of Cinderella Castle gets most of the attention, many visitors walk right past the Roy O. Disney and Minnie Mouse statue in Town Square.

One of my favorite things about this spot is that you can actually sit next to them, making it much easier to get close-up photos without feeling rushed.

It is also often less crowded, which means a more relaxed photo opportunity and some truly memorable pictures. This one definitely has a story, but that is for another day!

Sometimes the best Disney photo spots are the ones most people overlook.
