If you have a nervous kid staring down a scary ride, try this before you skip it. My 6-year-old rode Monsters Unchained at Epic Universe after I surprised her with $3 vampire teeth from Amazon – and from that moment on she was fully in character, hissing at Team Members and owning every portal like she built the place. Roleplay and imagination will get your kid further than any strategy guide. And if it still doesn’t work – child swap rooms exist for a reason! 🧛‍♂️

Planning a Disney cruise? Before you book anything, there’s one document decision that could make or break your entire trip. Most Disney Cruise Line itineraries are closed-loop cruises, meaning US citizens can legally board with just a birth certificate and a government-issued ID – no passport required. But that doesn’t mean you should skip it. If a medical emergency, missed port departure, or family crisis happens while you’re at sea, a birth certificate will not get you home from a foreign country. I always recommend every client travel with a valid passport, even on closed-loop sailings. It is your emergency exit plan. Ready to start planning your Disney cruise the right way? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Raise your hand if you spent an hour comparing Disney resort pools before booking your trip. No judgment – I’ve been there. But if you’re planning a rope drop to fireworks kind of vacation, the pool might be the last thing you actually use. Here’s what I tell every single client before they let a waterslide make a $500 per night decision for them.

Nobody warned me how confusing Disney cruise tipping actually is – and I say that as someone who books these trips for a living. Prepaid gratuities, per-guest rates that include your infant, room service rules, and the extras that show up on your bill anyway – it’s a lot.

If you’ve ever come home from a Universal Orlando vacation wishing you’d had just one more day, you’re not alone.

One of the biggest mistakes I see families make is trying to squeeze everything into too few park days. On our last trip, we used Universal’s Buy 3 Days, Get 2 Days Free ticket offer, and it completely changed how we toured the parks. Instead of skipping the parks on arrival day, we were able to head in, catch the CineSational nighttime spectacular, and still have plenty of time to explore the rest of the week.

The extra days also gave us the chance to experience Epic Universe at night, slow down, revisit favorite attractions, and enjoy the parks without feeling like we had to race from ride to ride.

If you’re planning a Universal Orlando trip, especially with kids, more park days can often provide a better experience than trying to cram everything into a shorter visit. Check out the forms here for planning information: https://linktr.ee/OnceUponaDeparture

Universal Orlando isn’t just for thrill seekers – and if you’ve been sleeping on it because Disney is your default, this one’s for you! From family-friendly rides and character meets to same-day dining and Express Passes that mean just show up and go, Universal planning looks completely different than you’d expect.

As a travel planner specializing in Disney and Universal vacations, one of the biggest surprises I hear from clients is how much they enjoy the relaxed planning style at Universal. Less time managing reservations can mean more time enjoying the parks.
