It is so hard to know where to start with the attractions in Africa. So let’s start with the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. This walking trail is about 3/8ths of a mile, and filled with animals. Obviously you can infer that you will see gorillas on the trail, but you will also see many other animals including okapi, hippopotamus, zebra, Angolan black and white colobus, meerkat, and naked mole rats! Not everyone is excited over naked mole rats, but if you were a Kim Possible fan you just might enjoy seeing them! Spoiler – they don’t look quite like Rufus, and definitely don’t talk. The trail also includes an aviary filled with a variety of birds. One of the wonderful things about the trail is that it is a self-paced trail. Meaning, if you aren’t a fan of looking at a ball python, you can go by that area quickly and spend more time with the meerkats. Not that I have anything against the ball python, but I really like meerkats! This area is good for all heights and ages. Be sure to stop and talk with the “research students” who are positioned near the exhibits if you have any questions about the animals!
Africa is also home to the Wildlife Express Train that will take you to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. This is a peaceful train ride that lasts about 7 minutes. It isn’t just a train ride though, you will also get to see some of the behind the scenes areas of Harambe. Keep your eyes open, you never know what you will see. I once saw the baby rhino before he was released to the savanna! This train is unique in the fact that all of the seats face to the side. Since it is a Wildlife Express Train they have made it extra easy to see the wildlife!
Alright. I think that does us for today. Tomorrow we will check out the stage show here in Africa. As always, if you have any questions please leave a comment below or email me at [email protected]
