Almost two years ago, we made the drive to Dallas together and contemplated our future as Travel Agents. We decided to branch out and start something of our own.

We made the drive again this week, with our kids, to visit the new Universal Kids Resort.

And today we stand here, over $1 million in families traveled so far THIS YEAR, humbled and excited that our clients trust us to help them make the most magical memories on their vacations.

So, thank you!! And cheers to many more years of wonderful vacations ahead.

Full Review Part #3

There are several opportunities for character meet and greets as well as a couple of shows that were fun. Staying at the hotel was very convenient! Being able to go back and forth quickly was nice. You also get to enter the parks an hour early (only the SpongeBob and Minion sections are open for the extra hour but I did hear it was a good time to meet characters) and the pool was fun…nothing spectacular but a great way to cool off. Lots of chairs and tables! The hotel does have complimentary laundry and you can also ask them to bring you a sound machine.

There were a few frustrating things. Because of the extreme heat, a couple of the rides temporarily shut down. Also we missed the Trolls show. We didn’t make the morning show a priority because we planned to watch it later. However they cancelled the last two shows due to heat and instead it was just a meet and greet. While that was fun, we were really looking forward to the show! Not everything is in the map and there is no way to know when the characters are available. Also no app. So you definitely had to rely on the team members if that is a priority. It was hard to find the characters in the hottest part of the day as well! I am sure they are working on all of this but it is good to know so that you can plan.

To me one of the biggest inconveniences was the elevators at the hotel. There are only 4 and they are located in the same kind of narrow hallway that leads to the pool. Several times, only one or two elevators were operating, creating long wait times. You definitely had to be ok with sharing an elevator if you didn’t want to wait forever during peak times.

Hopefully this is helpful. It is definitely not Disneyworld and definitely not for all ages. It is very much geared towards the younger elementary aged children. But for what it’s worth, it is a fun place. Plan to stay at least one night and set your expectations realistically! Our kids really did have fun and I am sure we will come again (when it’s cooler!) If you are 3 hours or less away, it’s totally worth a day trip!!

Full Review Part #2

The park itself is adorable and very well themed. It is definitely geared toward younger children. I would say the sweet spot is ages 5-8. You have to be at least 36 inches to ride most rides with an adult, and if you are 48 inches you can ride all but one ride by yourself. It is about 1/2 mile to walk all the way around the park so a very small footprint. Because of this most of the rides are spinning and even the roller coasters are more corkscrew turns! While we had fun riding the rides, We were also able to find a shady spot and send the kids out to ride rides while we waited. Only so much spinning we could handle! They thought this was so fun! The park was not crowded at all. In fact multiple times the kids rode the Cretaceous coaster 5 times in a row without having to get off! You can easily do the park in a day. We had the 1.5 day tickets and had more than enough time!

One thing I cannot stress enough...the Texas heat is no joke! Thankfully, there are plenty of splash areas, air-conditioned buildings, and places to cool off throughout the park. The minions water ride is super fun and you get really wet! You also get very wet on the bobbing barrels ride! I would suggest letting your kids wear swimsuits underneath clothes and then take off clothes to play in splash pads. You can bring a small towel to dry off if you want or they will dry off quickly in the sun and can then put clothes back on. Crocs or natives are great shoe options! Bring water bottles and fill them up often!!

The food options are good. We ate in Jurassic World one day for dinner. the food was good and relatively healthy. For lunch one day, we ate in Trolls Land. Food portions were large! We also ate dinner and breakfast at Curiosity Cafe in the hotel. Also very good and relatively healthy. There are freestyle Coke machines everywhere to get ice and water. We did buy one of the refillable cups and it was worth it. Lots of fun snacks throughout the park as well. The merchandise is cute…well themed. There are small gift shops in every area and then one large gift show at the front of the park that has everything!!

Full review Part #1

We are heading home from our stay at Universal Kids Resort (July 28-30), and I thought I would share my honest experience for anyone thinking about booking a trip.

We stayed in a Family Suite (2 adults and 4 kids ages 11, 10, 8 and almost 8). We arrived around 2:30 p.m. Check-in took about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. Our room wasn't quite ready when we arrived but it became available by the time we finished! We brought all of our stuff up to our room, changed clothes and headed to the parks, getting in around 3. We were able to ride almost all the rides before the park closed for the night at 7.

The Family Suite was wonderful! It was very spacious, clean, and had plenty of room for all six of us. We never really felt cramped, which is a huge plus when traveling with a big family. The bathroom is in a bit of a weird place across from the bunk beds and it would have been nice to have a split bathroom. But not too bad. Lots of hot water for everyone to take showers! Lots of storage space! There is a nightlight switch in the bedroom that is very bright so I would recommend bringing something to put over it. We used a bandaid and our key card! The pull out sofa is huge! Wide enough to sleep 3 people if needed! The bed in the bedroom is also very large…pretty close to a king size bed.

One thing that really stood out during our stay was the staff. Everyone we encountered, both at the hotel and inside the park, was incredibly friendly and helpful. They all seem to be figuring things out too! Unfortunately there is no app so you have to rely on the team members and what is on the map!
