10/1 Today in Florida History from the Florida Historical Society!

1971 - The Walt Disney World Resort officially opened on this date, including Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Resort, and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. William Windsor, Jr. was the very first guest. Approximately 10,000 visitors showed up on opening day. Admission prices in 1971 were $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for juniors under age 18, and one dollar for children under twelve. Today, Walt Disney World is the most visited vacation resort in the world, with an average annual attendance of nearly 60 million.

Have you ever been to the Food. & W**e Festival at Epcot?! OMG! This was my first year ever doing it and I have to say - I’ve never been so impressed with Disney food! 🤤🤤🤤 If your on the fence - IMO It’s worth the 8 hour drive JUST to eat again! 😂

WHAT IS THE FOOD & W**E FESTIVAL?
Located inside of Epcot while walking through World Showcase, Marketplaces - aka booths - are set up with specialty drinks + dishes showcasing different cultural cuisine! They are usually smaller portions and also not as pricy as a full meal. (Keep an eye out for upcoming reel I’ll be sharing our top pics!)
