Before you move, take the time to know your truck is ready. That is what a real pre-trip is for.
Start with the basics:
- Check tire pressure and look for cuts, bulges, or uneven wear. Make sure lug nuts are tight and nothing looks off around the rims.
Walk the truck and trailer:
- All lights working - headlights, brake lights, turn signals, clearance lights. No loose wiring or damaged connectors.
Air and brakes:
- Build air pressure and make sure it holds. Listen for leaks. Test your brakes before you roll — do not assume they are fine.
Under the hood:
- Check oil, coolant, and other fluids. Look at belts and hoses for cracks or wear.
Trailer and load:
- Make sure doors are secure, locks are in place, and the load is properly secured. Straps or chains tight, nothing shifting.
It does not take long, but it tells you everything you need to know before the first mile.
Find it in the yard, not on the road.
