The Lamorinda Spirit Van Program has been in service since mid-June, 2006. Currently we have two vehicles in service, one vehicle as a back-up, and a mini-van on order that will be delivered in 2014. Our community of Lamorinda and Contra Costa supporters generously donated the local match for the mini-van. Café at the Walnut Creek Senior Center for lunch Monday through Friday and on errands to loc
al stores and businesses, hair and medical/dental/ physical therapy appointments, to events at Lafayette senior services, shopping at the mall, or visiting someone. We occasionally plan a mini-day trip to a local place of interest. Rides to lunch at the C.C. Café are free and lunch is $2.00. Call 280-7310 one business day ahead of time by 11:00 a.m. to reserve your lunch at the C.C. Cafe. Tell them you want to take the Lamorinda Spirit Van, and they will tell us. When Lafayette Senior Services is sponsoring a Friday afternoon concert, we can bring you to lunch, the concert, and home for a single van fare of $5.00. Errand Fares and Reservations
Rides to errands, appointments, and shopping are $5.00 one way, $10.00 round trip. Call 283-3534 two business days ahead of time by 1:00 p.m. to make your reservation or earlier if possible. When you call to schedule a ride, we love to say YES to you. We work hard to make sure we have vans and drivers available to meet your needs. As our program expands and our list of passengers grows, we need to hear from you sooner rather than later. To help us say YES more often, please tell us about your upcoming appointments as soon as you can – preferably as soon as you know about them. With more advance notice, we will be in a better position to work with you and other impacted passengers to arrange the best possible schedule for everyone concerned. We always want to say YES to our passengers. Schedule – Rides are scheduled first come, first served within certain parameters.
• Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday Afternoons, Fridays – Rides to medical and miscellaneous appointments and special events at Lafayette Senior Services.
• Tuesday Mornings – Rides also to grocery and sundry shopping, the bank, post office, library, etc. for Orinda seniors in Orinda.
• Wednesday Mornings – Rides to grocery and sundry shopping, the bank, post office, library, etc. for Lafayette seniors in Lafayette.
• Thursday Mornings – Rides to grocery and sundry shopping, the bank, post office, library, hair salon, etc. for Moraga seniors in Moraga and Lafayette.
• Fridays – Trips to Sun Valley Mall, Broadway Plaza, Kohls (Monument), and the Lafayette Library and Learning Center. Also rides to miscellaneous appointments and special events at Lafayette Senior Services. A Popular Program: The rides per month continue to grow:
