RAINBOW AURORA CURTAINS

Those neon “pillars” are auroral rays .. columns of light formed when charged particles hit Earth’s upper atmosphere and excite oxygen + nitrogen, producing different colors at different heights.

The vertical stripes happen because the glow lines up with Earth’s magnetic field, so the aurora looks like a set of curtains drifting behind the clouds.

Scenes like this are most likely at high latitudes during strong geomagnetic activity .. Alaska, northern Canada, Iceland, or northern Scandinavia .. especially when a dark storm deck gives the colors extra contrast.

The sky lit up in brilliant color, turning the road into what looked like a glowing gateway. 🌈✨🛣️

After a passing storm, sunlight broke through lingering moisture in the air, creating intense rainbow-like light pillars that seemed to rise straight from the horizon. For a moment, the quiet highway looked less like pavement and more like a path into the sky.
