🦋🍂One of nature’s most incredible journeys is underway!

Each year, monarch butterflies travel thousands of miles across North America, making their way toward the mountain forests of central Mexico. Even more remarkable? No single monarch completes the entire round-trip migration.

Follow the routes on our map and see how these tiny travelers cross an entire continent using instinct, sunlight, and generations of determination. Link To More Informaiton in Comments

Have you spotted any monarchs where you live? 🦋🍂

In 1974, occupied bald eagle nests in Wisconsin were mostly limited to the north of the state. By 2019, they had spread widely across Wisconsin. The recovery followed decades of conservation work, including the ban on DDT, stronger habitat protections and cleaner waterways that helped eagle populations rebound.

The monarch butterfly has declined by 80% in the last 20 years.

The western population is down by 99%.

They're being considered for Endangered Species Act protection.

The reason is simple: milkw**d.

Monarch caterpillars eat ONLY milkw**d (Asclepias). No milkw**d = no monarchs. Period.

We've destroyed an estimated 90% of North American milkw**d — sprayed out of farm fields by herbicides (especially glyphosate-tolerant crops), mowed from roadsides, removed from "clean" landscapes.

What you can do:
Plant NATIVE milkw**d for your region:
Northeast/Midwest: Common milkw**d (A. syriaca), Swamp milkw**d (A. incarnata), Butterfly w**d (A. tuberosa).
Southeast: A. incarnata, A. tuberosa, Aquatic milkw**d (A. perennis).
West: Showy milkw**d (A. speciosa), Narrowleaf milkw**d (A. fascicularis).

Do NOT plant tropical milkw**d (A. curassavica) in the southern US — it doesn't die back in winter, allowing OE parasites to build up on the leaves. It can actually HARM monarchs.

3-5 milkw**d plants in your yard can support an entire generation of monarchs.

Leave the caterpillars alone — yes, they eat the milkw**d down to stubs. That's the POINT. The plant regrows.

3 plants. $12. One generation saved.
