Duties:
- Building a book of business
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers and customers to facilitate freight transportation
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to ensure cost-effective and efficient transportation solutions
- Coordinate and track shipments from pickup to delivery, ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other software tools to manage freight movements
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and proactively communicating updates
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in freight brokerage
Experience:
- Strong knowledge of carrier sales, transportation planning, and supply chain management
- Familiarity with FDA regulations for shipping perishable goods is a plus
- Proficient in using AS400 or similar transportation management systems (TMS)
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build relationships with carriers and customers
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with dispatching and managing multiple shipments simultaneously
Skills:
- Strong sales skills to acquire new customers and expand business opportunities
- Knowledge of NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) operations is a plus
- Proficient in using customer relationship management (CRM) software to track leads and manage customer interactions
