Here is the full story concerning AA since you asked. I had a flight credit but did not know how to redeem it online so I called an AA agent. I booked my flight to see my boys for Spring Break in California. The agent took my info and booked the flight. When she asked my birthdate, she transposed my month and day as they are reversed in Europe. We say month then day, they do day then month . I had no way to check this online or prior to my travel. When I got to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and printed my boarding pass and baggage tag from the kiosk little did I know that my boarding pass information was wrong. When I attempted to go through TSA security, the agent informed me that my birthdate and boarding pass did not match. I would have to go back to AA and get it corrected. After getting it corrected and a new boarding pass issued, I went back through TSA again. By the time I got through security and down to my gate, my plane had departed. I was put on standby. I was to make a connection in DFW to then arrive in Burbank. I was put on standby…3 times 3 …..times. On the third time, even if I would have been put on that flight, I still would have missed my connection in DFW. It was then that I asked, demanded, that they do something and get me on the next flight into LAX. They acquiesced. Before leaving the counter, I inquired about my luggage. They assured me that it was intercepted and would meet me at LAX. I made my direct flight to LAX. However, regardless of what they told me back at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, my bag was not at LAX but at Burbank. I arranged for my bag to be delivered to my hotel the next day. I provided the delivery company hired by AA with my hotel information. I also informed them that I did NOT want to waive the signature and that I DID want to sign for my bag as I wanted to check the contents. Did that happen? NO! The bag was left at the check-in counter of the hotel without notifying any staff at the hotel or me. I just happened to check my email and see a picture of my bag in front of the counter, simply sitting there. No signature, no notification from AA that it had arrived, nothing. Now, the adventure continues on my return flight from BUR. Our flight from Burbank to Dallas was delayed for over an hour due to some mechanical issues at Burbank. Once again, the connection in DFW was missed because the pilot was unable or unwilling to make up the time in air. When I arrived in Dallas and was able to finally deplane, myself and three other passengers had 15 minutes to get from Terminal A to Terminal D and make our connecting flight to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. We all arrived at the gate with 5 minutes to spare, after sprinting and miraculously making it. However, when we got to the gate, there were no gate attendants. The plane was still there but no staff at the gate, no gate agents. They finally were seen coming up the glass encased boarding ramp leisurely taking their time. When they arrived at the counter, we informed them that we were supposed to be on that flight now backing away from the gate. We were informed that since we didn’t arrive, our tickets were let go to standby passengers. We would have to rebook our flights at the AA customer service counter. I finally arrived into Charlotte Douglas International Airport 3 hours after when I was supposed to arrive. Again, AA could not verify that my bag was at the airport and, regardless of having my bag tag number, they could not locate it. They finally found it sitting at a baggage carousel… just… sitting there. No verification, no assurance by the airline or by Charlotte Douglas International Airport that my bag was there. That was experience number 1, now for experience number 2, most recent. Why, pray tell, did I fly AA again. Well, I had miles I thought may qualify me for a trip and/ or I wanted to accumulate more for a special trip as a loyal customer. Once again, I departed from THE Charlotte Douglas International Airport. This time, I had a flight from CLT to PHX to BUR- Charlotte to Phoenix to Burbank. This time we pulled away from the gate late as the plane had just arrived from Seattle. They had to deplane, clean, restock and put a new crew on. It was a half hour late. Then, we pull away from the gate only to sit on the tarmac for an hour due to a passenger who decided they didn’t want to fly as well as a discrepancy in the manifest regarding passengers not on the flight. Remember my story from above and myself and the three passengers? Remember?!?! Once again, because of all of this, I missed my connection in Phoenix. I was rebooked on a flight than to LAX. You guessed it! Again, my bag arrived in BUR and did not follow me to LAX, or so I thought. When I arrived in LA, I checked the status of my bag. According to one report, it never left Charlotte Douglas INTERNATIONAL Airport. It was scanned 8 times!!!!? That was one story. Another agent told me it was in DFW. Why? as my flight from Charlotte Douglas INTERNATIONAL Airport was to go through PHX. Why, in sam’s name, was it in DFW. I was then told that it would come tomorrow on a different flight and it could be picked up and delivered by that same third party company that “delivered” my bag from the story above. I was never confirmed or notified of its whereabouts. I tried contacting AA but again to no avail. No one could tell me the whereabouts of my bag. Finally after 12 hours it was found in Burbank and then after another 6 hours, it was finally delivered. Yet again, I DID NOT waive the signature and wanted to sign for it as I wanted to check its contents. They delivered it and simply left at the address I put but without me signing for it and inspecting its contents. Today , I said enough and booked my next flights with United. I told the agent of what had happened. She informed me that several airlines were members of the One World Alliance and that she would connect me with an AA agent to get compensation. She connected me but to no avail. All agents were busy, as I was informed. If I wanted to maintain my space in the queue, simply press 1 and I would be contacted back in 7-9 minutes as that was my waiting time and could avoid waiting as they WOULD call me back. I pressed 1 as the only other option was to simply press 2 and be disconnected. Again, I pressed 1 to talk to an agent. I AM STILL WAITING.
AA?!!?
Hello?
