The Port of Krotz Springs hosted the monthly Ports Association of Louisiana Meeting today.

This meeting is attended by port directors and associate members from throughout the state.

A delicious lunch was prepared by Commissioner Paul DiCapo with an awesome dessert from T-Boo’s in Krotz Springs.

Each attendee was also treated to a bag of Noah’s Pork Rinds which were a big hit.

It is with a very heavy heart that the Port announces the passing of past Commissioner Alvin "Chubby" Haynes II. Mr. Haynes was a Board member for many years having served as its President from 1993-1998.

And then publicly opened and read for the following:
A THREE YEAR HUNTNG LEASE BEGNNNG JULY 1, 2025 ON THE FOLLOWNG TRACTS OF LAND:
ONE (1) CERTAIN TRACT OR PARCEL OF GROUND, CONTAINING 92.523 ACRES, LOCATED IN SECTION ONE (1), TOWNSHIP FIVE SOUTH (T-5-S), RANGE SEVEN EAST (R-7-E), ST. LANDRY PARISH, LOUISIANA, BENG MORE FULLY SHOWN

Bids shall be enclosed is a sealed envelope addressed to Cindy Stelly, Executive Director, Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission, and plainly marked on the outside, "Bid for Hunting Lease on Port Property".

The bid shall state the amount of annual rent bidder is willing to pay for each year of the hunting lease, The annual rent shall remain the same for the three year term of said lease.

Each person who submits a bid must also enclose in the envelope a deposit equal to ten (10%) per cent of the bid, but no less than $75.00. The deposit shall be in the form of a certified check or money order payable to the Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission. All unsuccessful bidders will be refunded this bid deposit.

The Owner hereby notifies all bidders that the hunting lease shall be for three (3) years from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028, but shall be subject to ex parte cancellation by the Lessor with thirty (30) days written notice. Any Lessee bidding on the hunting lease shall agree to hold harmless and defend the Port from and against any liability for or arising out of hunting activities on the property. Any Lessee will be required to obtain a policy of general liability insurance limits of at least $1,000,000.00 and name the Port as additional insured on that policy.

This hunting lease shall be for hunting only and no other purpose and will be non-exclusive to any other uses which the Port shall choose to make of the leased property.

The Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission reserves the right to reject any and all bids, and to waive any irregularity in the bids received.

upon deposit of $150.00 for each set of documents. Surety must be listed on the current U.S. Department of the Treasury Financial Management Service list of approved bonding companies as approved for an amount equal to or greater than the amount for which it obligates itself in the Bond or must be a Louisiana domiciled insurance company at least an A - rating in the latest printing of the A.M. Best's Key Rating Guide. If surety qualifies by virtue of its Best's listing, the amount of the Bond may not exceed ten percent of policyholders' surplus as shown in the latest A.M. Best's Key Rating Guide. The Bid Bond shall be in favor of Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission and shall be accompanied by appropriate power of attomey. No Bid Bond indicating an obligation of less than five percent (5%) by any method is acceptable.

The successful Bidder shall be required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond written by a company licensed to do business in Louisiana, in an amount equal to 100% of the Contract amount. Surety must be listed currently on the U. S. Department of Treasury Financial Management Service List (Treasury List) as approved for an amount equal to or greater than the contract amount or must be an insurance company domiciled in Louisiana or owned by Louisiana residents. If surety is qualified other than by listing on the Treasury list, the contract amount may not exceed fifteen percent of policyholders' surplus as shovm by surety's most recent financial statements filed with the Louisiana Department of Insurance and may not exceed the amount of $500,000. However, a Louisiana domiciled insurance company with at least an A- rating in the latest printing of the A. M. Best's Key Rating Guide shall not be subject to the $500,000 limitation, provided that the contract amount does not exceed ten percent of policyholders' surplus as shown in the latest A. M. Best's Key Rating Guide nor fifteen percent of policyholders' stuplus as shovvn by surety's most recent financial statements filed with the Louisiana Department of Insurance. The Bond shall be signed by the surety's agent or attorney-in-fact.

A PRE-BID CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD
at 10:00 a.m. on February 4, 2025, at Greater Krotz Springs Port Commission Office.

Attendance at this conference is not required but bidders are advised that they will be required to state on the bid form that they have personally inspected and are familiar with the project site.

Bids shall be accepted from Contractors who are licensed under LA R.S. 37:2150-2163 for the classification of building construction. Bidder is required to comply w

ith provisions and requirements of LA R.S.38:2212 (A)(l)(c). No bid may be withdrawn for a period of forty-five (45) days after receipt of bids, except under the provisions of LA. R.S. 38:2214.

The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids for just cause. In accordance with La. R.S. 38:2212 (A) (l)(b), the provisions and requirements of this Section, those stated in the advertisement bids, and those required on the bid form shall not be considered as informalities and shall not be waived by any public entity.

The Port held their 35th Annual December Reception at the Gary Soileau Community Center on Tuesday, December 3rd.

Some attendees included Mayors and Councils from some of the the municipalities in St. Landry Parish, St. Landry Parish Government Councilmembers, and St. Landry Parish School Board Members.

Thank to Tab’s Cajun Maintenance for giving our Port office, parking lot, and Port sign a much needed face lift!

They power washed the Port building and parking lots, restriped the parking lot, did some painting on the Port office and Port sign, and changed our outside light fixtures.
