THE RESULTS ARE IN…
Remember that nasty rust stain I asked you guys about?

Well, you came through with ALL kinds of suggestions, so I went through the comments, picked the three products you recommended the most, bought them, and headed back to the boat to put them to the test.

Three products.
One stubborn rust stain.
And one Captain Barbie who was determined to WIN this battle.

I tried each one, gave them their chance to work, rinsed everything down…and we have a winner.

CLR took it!!

RUST. ANNIHILATED.

Okay boaters… help Captain Barbie out. 😂⚓️

I’ve got this stubborn rust stain on my swim platform and it is driving me CRAZY.

I’ve already tried the two products I’m showing in the video and, as you can see… the rust stain apparently did not get the memo that it was supposed to leave. 🤣

I know where it’s coming from, and when I pull the boat for bottom paint we’ll be changing out the hardware. But until then, I don’t want to look at this ugly stain all season!

So I’m turning this one over to YOU:

⚓️ HEAD-ON SITUATION — WHAT SHOULD BOTH BOATS DO?

When two power-driven vessels are meeting head-on, BOTH vessels should take action.

➡️ Both alter course to STARBOARD (right).
⬅️ That allows the vessels to pass PORT TO PORT (left side to left side).

And here’s my favorite part about this video: you can actually watch it happen in real life.

As the other boat and I approach each other, you’ll see both of us alter course to our own starboard, creating a clear and safe port-to-port pass. No drama. No guessing. Just two captains recognizing the situation and taking appropriate action. ⚓️

The Rules of the Road can sound complicated when you’re simply reading them, but seeing them play out on the water makes them SO much easier to understand and remember.

Think twin engines make a bigger boat harder to dock? Watch this.

One of the questions I hear from women considering moving up to a larger boat is whether twin engines will make docking more intimidating.
Here’s the good news: once you learn how your boat responds, twins can actually give you incredible control around the dock.

Today conditions were about as friendly as they get….Very little wind and no significant current—so this was the perfect opportunity to show you how I maneuver my Sea Ray using the two throttles independently with the wheel centered.

Small inputs.
Give the boat time to respond.
And remember…

Slow is your friend!

Every boat handles differently, and wind, current, propulsion setup and conditions can completely change your approach. Practice in calm conditions and learn what YOUR boat does before challenging yourself with tougher situations.

Docking doesn’t have to be scary. It takes practice, patience and confidence.

And confidence comes from doing it.
