Today in South Carolina National Guard History
February 24, 1991

The long awaited ground offensive of Operation Desert Storm starts with an overwhelming assault across the Saudi desert to outflank the Iraqi forces trapped in Kuwait.

On February 22, the 1052nd Transportation Company received a mission to move 19 loads of ammunition into Iraq in direct support of the main attack of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade. The unit continued in their support, establishing an operations cell that supported missions hauling rations and relocating enemy prisoners of war. The cell remained operational until the allied forces withdrew from Iraq and Kuwait.
