We perform interior and exterior cleanouts for commercial properties all over the city, and one thing we continue to find everywhere is discarded needles. Parking lots, alleyways, vacant properties, sidewalks you name it.
I understand the argument for providing clean needles to help reduce harm. But what happens after they’re handed out? Because from what we’re seeing, far too many are ending up on the ground where children play, residents walk, and workers clean every day.
A single needle stick can change someone’s life forever. No child should have to worry about being poked while playing outside. No worker should have to risk exposure just doing their job.
Enough is enough.
I’m not interested in just complaining about the problem I’m interested in helping solve it. I’m currently brainstorming ways to make a real impact, whether that’s through a nonprofit, community cleanup initiative, education program, or partnerships with local organizations.
This issue affects all of us, and someone has to step up.
We’ll continue documenting what we find, safely removing these hazards from our communities, and working toward real solutions that protect our neighborhoods and our children.
would love to talk about solutions email me if it’s something that is important to you.
