Some birthdays are special. But turning 100 years young at 35,000 feet is unforgettable. 💙❤️💛

Ms. Essie celebrated her milestone birthday in true Southwest fashion. She was surrounded by a gate full of voices singing just for her, then onboard our Crew surprised her with a birthday crown and a cabin full of “birthday candles.”

Passengers across the plane lit up their call buttons so she could make a wish. Then, all at once, the lights went out together.

Happy 100th, Ms. Essie! 🎉✈️

During a traffic delay at Washington D.C.'s Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, First Officer James stepped off, ordered pizza for the entire flight, carried it back aboard, and served it himself row-by-row.

Santa Rosa will always be part of Marc’s story—and now Southwest is too. ✈️

In 1986, Marc took his first flight out of Sonoma County Airport (STS)—a moment that sparked a lifelong love of aviation. Years later, after studying at Sonoma State and completing his flight training at STS, he found his perfect fit flying with Southwest.

When Southwest officially launched service to Santa Rosa, Marc experienced the ultimate full‑circle moment, serving as Captain of the inaugural flight into his hometown.

Some families pass down recipes. This family passed down wings. ✈️

James has officially joined the ranks as a Southwest Pilot following in the footsteps of his dad, Captain Larry, and his mom, First Officer Tamaron.

The family’s connection to aviation started long before Southwest. Tamaron's father laid the foundation as an Air Force Pilot, and she followed in her father's footsteps; meeting Larry along the way at the Air Force Academy. James has since become a third-generation Air Force service member carrying on the tradition.

To commemorate James' first flight, Larry served as his Captain while Tamaron proudly watched from the jumpseat.

A pretty special moment for a family whose story has always been tied to aviation. 💙❤️💛
