Boating Classes - Cruisers College

Interested in safe, fun, and trouble-free time on the water this Summer? The key is preparation!

Join us on Saturday, May 20th, for two classes focused on making you and your boat ready for a season of fun. The AM class will cover those tasks all boat owners must consider to prepare for the season. The PM class continues the discussion for those with sailboats, and topics such as sail inspection, rig tuning, winch maintenance, and more will be reviewed.

Our facility is just a short walk from the Anacortes Boat and Yacht Show and Trawlerfest taking place that weekend. Attend one or both of our classes and then take in the show!

Cruisers College is the community outreach arm of Skagit Valley College’s Marine Technology program in Anacortes. We’re passionate about sharing our extensive knowledge of boats and the cruising lifestyle. We offer classes from Fall to Spring on diesel maintenance, electrical, boat canvas, heating systems, cruising Alaska, Desolation Sound, and more!

Big time thanks to those who attended today’s boat canvas maker’s space. Attendees got to learn how to sew on our Sailrite sewing machines and saved thousands in repair charges by learning to do it themselves! Enclosure panels, mainsail covers, boom tents and more were repaired. With the time remaining we also made some cool tote bags from recycled sails and Sunbrella material.
