At the Helm | Pirate Doug
He teaches 101, 103/104. When you don’t see him around he is doing deliveries. He enjoys races and HMR.
Pirate Doug’s a Texas man, With salt and stories thick as sand. For over twenty years or more, He’s been Darryl’s friend to the core.
Back in the day he rode the chutes,With cowboy grit and dusty boots. Then pipes and wrenches paid the bills, A plumber tough with working skills.
As a boy he’d fish and boat, Beside his dad on every float. Those early days out on the tide Lit the sailor fire inside.
About ten years ago it’s said, To Windward SeaVenture he was led. He caught the sailing fever fast, And knew this love was built to last.
Eight years back he earned his stripes, Captain’s license, cheers and pipes! Since then he’s crossed both near and far, By moonlit wave and guiding star.
From Gulf waters back in the day, Before the name had changed away To Caribbean seas so blue, And East Coast ports he proudly knew.
He teaches sailors wind and sail, How not to panic in a gale. An instructor sharp, a captain true, The kind you’d trust your vessel to.
Now Captain Ron’s his guiding light, His salty hero day and night. A little wild, a little tan, Doug says, “That’s how you sail, man!”
And somewhere in his easy style, The Dude lives on all the while. Like Lebowski, calm and cool, He follows his own pirate rule.
If lines get crossed or plans go wrong, He’ll grin and strum another song. Then crack a smile and softly say, “Ahhh… it’ll prolly be alright today.”
When sunset paints the harbor gold, That’s when Doug’s best stories get told. He grabs his guitar, plays a tune, And keeps the dock awake past noon.
At every dock or party scene, Pirate Doug’s the king, everybody loves him.
But beyond the sails and ocean spray, What matters most at end of day, Is loyal heart and friendship true: That’s the finest thing about Doug to you.
Thank You Doug for all this years, for your friendship and all your support. We love you!
