The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has EXTENDED the Emergency Declaration to
👉SEPTEMBER 14th👈
In addition they EXPANDED the scope of the declaration to include those transporting the following:
🚛 Livestock and livestock feed;
🚛 Medical supplies and equipment related to the testing, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19;
🚛 Supplies and equipment necessary for community safety, sanitation, and prevention of community transmission of COVID-19 such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, soap and disinfectants;
🚛 Food, paper products and other groceries for emergency restocking of distribution centers or stores
Things to remember:
‼️ No paperwork is required to claim the use of the exemption
‼️ Those providing direct assistance are exempt from FMCSA regulations parts 390-399, most notably HOS and the requirement to maintain a log of any kind
‼️ You do not have to be loaded to claim the exemption. Direct assistance only terminates when a driver are no longer providing support of emergency relief efforts related to COVID-19 or when the driver is dispatched to a load that is not covered.
‼️ A 10 hour break is required before you return to normal operations
