Kauai Beach House Hostel Ocean Front Hostel in Hawaii... Affordble Accomodations with Aloha

09/10/2026

Post Hurricane Lowell update:
…
This is a shot of my driveway going to my house… almost every road looked(or still looks) like this!
…
The Hostel in fine! Couple small boards and a few other things that we have been planning to replace during this remodel anyway! But the entire island has trees down everywhere. Which has created a lot of power lines down as well. The island has been hit hard, but the community has banded together and we’re figuring it all out as we get through all the issues. Many people are still without running water and electricity to their homes and businesses.
…
If you want to donate we suggest make sure you are donating to reputable non profits or just families that are boots on the ground.
…
I am NOT trying to ask for money, but if you are unsure of who to donate to I can send you my Venmo and I will make sure to pass extra gas to a family in need. Many homes are running off generators. The multimillion dollar ocean from homes and resorts ON THE SOUTH SIDE have experienced MAJOR damage if not total loss. Those were the biggest waves on the south shore EVER! Peaking in the 30-40foot size over night Sunday into Monday.
…
We are VERY SAD to say that friends of ours lost their father during the night. He was living near the shoreline on the south side by himself watching over his families property. He is the only know fatality at this time. We look forward to celebrating his life in the near future.
…
But the island is asking visitors to stay away for some time to keep roads empty for crews to get us back online. Please tell any and all friends with plans to come here to push it back till atleast October. Most hotels are requesting September to stay away. The community is healing. The island is filled with downed trees and closed businesses… you’re not missing out on anything unless you wanna come work FOR FREE. No one is getting paid. We all just lost our tourism jobs and just helping each other from the goodness of your hearts.
…
If you are serious about disaster relief work. Message me and maybe I can help set you up with a place to stay out here.
…

Hurricane Lowell knocking on our down! It will be passing us through the night! So we just gonna hope everything all good in the morning! Final prep going down now! Luckily my dad and his friends build the Hostel like a beast. She’s been through 2 hurricanes. Hurricane Iwa in 1982 and Iniki in 1992… this storm is being compared to Iwa in strength but moved towards us like Iniki’s path. Anyway… join us in prayer and good vibes that Kaua’i and Ni’ihau doesn’t see too much damage. Major flooding has already began in some areas… but nothing like we havnt seen before! Aloha All!🤙🤙🤙

Good morning sunrise from Kaua’i Beach House!

As many of you may have heard… this has been a very active hurricane season. We have 3 major storms in the Pacific at the moment! This happens every year and our Hawaiian islands are so tiny compared to the Pacific Ocean that we almost never get hit.

There is a Category 4 hurricane a few hundred miles from us called Lowell. This Hurricane is predicted to make a turn north in the next couple days and possibly come close to us.

We are preparing! Our family and our island community is remaining happy as we do what we can. Like any obstacle in life, we just gotta get through it.

Just like this hostel rebuild. This too shall pass!🙏💪

We’ve finalized the plans for some major improvements to the service we offer you guys! Safety being top priority!
I’ll keep them a secret for now. But as much as we love our rustic shack in the middle of the pacific… we will be the perfect example of what a hostel should have if hosting travelers year round at a full capacity like we’ve been for decades!

Anyways… Prayers up for Hurricane Lowell showing mercy on us and passing to the west. And I’ll keep you posted!

Cheers to Fall of 2026 being a great one for all of you!!!

ALOHA!!!

Hawai’i Hurricane Update:

Aloha Everyone! Hurricane Lālā is affecting our island right now with wind gusts up to 50mph. There is on an off raining as well, but nothing like what we are used to. Kaua’i has the 24hr rain record set in 2018! (Google Bison on Hanalei Bay photo)

Anyway ocean is too rough to surf so we’re all hanging out indoors today. Eye of the storm is much south of us and should be passed by tonight.

Hawai’i island and Maui got the worst of the damage and we are praying for the families who lost their homes or other personal property. Hopefully everyone is safe!

As far as our hostel goes. She hasn’t seen a Hurricane since 1992 when Hurricane Iniki thrashed our island with winds over 250mph. At the time is was the top 5 heaviest storms recorded. Lucky my father and his friends build this structure to be very strong, and with my help and many others we increased her strength over the years.

Hurricane iniki is the one who too the Hot Tub on the 3rd floor…along with almost all the rooms.

Does anyone remember the one room that survived with the tin roof? We called it the crows nest and it was only there for a couple years during the early 2000’s I believe.

Anyway… we still miss you guys! Remodel is gonna be shifting gears soon and hopefully to bang out the big projects and get our doors open again asap.
ALOHA!!!🤙🪁⛵️

HOSTEL UPDATE:

STILL TEMPORARILY CLOSED. Our family has been working hard at what we can. We have been help up a little with a permit approval, but we are very excited to get past this and reopened as soon as possible.

Our island is a special place in the world. Our hostel is that nest for worldwide travelers. We wanna make it amazing… just like this photo of Nā keiki ‘o na’iwi, more commonly referred to as Kalalau Beach! 🏝️

I’d love to tell you more… but I better get back to work!

Reopen is now forecasted to Fall or even until Winter.

In the back end of summer we will have a better idea. But putting it out there to the universe that by 2026 we will be going strong again! WE MISS YOU ALL!

Also if you know anyone who wants to help with renovations. Message us directly and maybe we can get them out here to join the team for a few months.

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER 2026 EVERYONE!
