Today’s fresh crack is an offering from Old Elk and comes in at 53.55% or 107.1 proof. Notes of cherry mash and brown sugar are very sweet but not overpowering. I’m a huge wheated guy so this is my stuff.
Kim and I also followed the Flint Hills Traverse the last couple of weeks and had a blast and highly recommend it if you have the time and love just getting out to see the beautiful state we call home. Enjoy!

Our travels have brought us to one of the childhood homes of Laura Ingall’s Wilder. I had no idea her family only lived here for just a small handful of years. Check out the photos and as always we are on our next adventures so keep watching.

Excited about yesterday’s purchase at Menards ✅💯

I used to fly off the cuff, use to stay up all night ( now it’s acid reflux) and definitely not wearing Sketchers…. But I’m quite not at the white New Balance yet 😆

This week’s adventure thru our home state of Kansas took us to Coffeyville to check out the fate of the Dalton gang. Back in 1892 during the end of the rough and tumble cowboy era they decided they were going to rob two banks simultaneously ( something Jessie James couldn’t do) with fake mustache’s on. Funny thing about this is they use to live in town so they thought this would hide there faces from locals. They found out very quickly this will not help.
As they rode into town they split up to rob both banks but the local townsfolk saw them coming with guns so they rose to arms themselves to keep their hard earned money where it belonged in the bank. Back then if banks were not backed by the FDIC they were just out of luck if they got robbed.
As they were waiting for the money the townsfolk starting shooting into the banks to stop them and than the pursuit was on down thru the alley ( death alley) just west of the Condon Bank and that’s where three out of the four met their demise. Emmett Dalton was shot 23 times but lived thru it and was sentenced to Lansing prison but was pardoned after 14 years served and moved to California to start over and become a author, actor, and than a real estate agent and passed away July 13th 1937 in Los Angeles.

This weekend’s adventure took us across KS and parts of MO. The first set of pictures are just south of JC on 77 hwy. The cemetery pics are in Camden Point MO and is the oldest confederate monument and graves west of the Mississippi. In July 1864 Union soldiers attacked a confederate camp and burned most of the town of Camden Point just north of Platte City. The monument was placed a hand full of years later.
History is history no matter what side of the fence we walk on so I think the importance of visiting these kind of sites tell a story of days past and should be seen.

Today’s fresh crack Monday is Hibiki Japanese Harmony 86 proof whiskey. This is blended with multiple whiskeys to achieve a light floral note with a sugary finish. Definitely a go to here at the bar so check it out if you get a chance.
