I've been thinking a lot lately about success, failure, opportunity, and why some people seem to completely change their lives while others stay stuck in the same place year after year.
I think I've finally figured out something important.
Success is not something you pursue. Success is something you attract by the person you become.
The major question in life isn't, "What am I getting?"
The major question is, "What am I becoming?"
Because true happiness isn't found in what you have. It's found in who you've become to get there.
Life teaches us a few lessons over and over again.
First, learn how to handle the winters.
Every one of us will face them. Financial winters. Business winters. Health problems. Heartbreak. Disappointment. Loss. Failure.
The winters are coming whether we like it or not.
The good news is that while the winters don't change, we can.
We can get stronger.
We can get wiser.
We can get better.
Second, learn how to take advantage of the spring.
Opportunity always follows difficulty.
The problem is that opportunity usually arrives disguised as hard work, sacrifice, responsibility, and risk. Most people wait for the perfect moment. A few people decide to act.
Life only gives us so many springs.
So many opportunities.
So many chances to change the direction of our lives.
Don't let them pass you by.
Third, protect what you build.
Anything worth having requires discipline, consistency, and effort. The excitement fades. The motivation fades. That's when character takes over.
That's where growth happens.
And finally, understand this:
Your life can change completely in a single day.
The day you decide to change it.
If you keep doing what you've always done, five years from now you'll probably be standing in the same place.
But if you decide to grow, learn, take action, develop new skills, strengthen your faith, improve your health, improve your relationships, and become a better version of yourself, everything changes.
Not overnight.
But little by little.
Day by day.
Choice by choice.
The future belongs to the people who take action while everyone else is waiting.
So here's my question:
What are you going to do tomorrow that will make your life different than it is today?
