FLANNEL ADVISORY: Coming SOON!

Michigan, dust off the flannels! After the warmth early next week, temperatures are expected to trend cooler beginning Wednesday, with a more fall-like feel favored heading into Friday and the weekend.

It may not be FULL BLOWN FALL just yet, but mother nature is at least giving us a little preview.

Who's ready for flannel weather??!!

NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸

09/10/2026

🤍 As you head to bed tonight do so without taking life for granted as tomorrow is never promised.
On this evening 25 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people who went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for their morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for their morning shifts. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001.
It serves to remind us that in one single moment life may never be the same.
As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, hold the ones you love, snuggle them a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

All border crossings in Michigan will briefly close Friday, Sept. 11, in commemoration of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Traffic will be cleared before 8:46 a.m. At that time, taps will be played as the flag is raised, followed by a moment of silence at all ports of entry. Motorists should expect closures of approximately 30 minutes or less.

Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge
Blue Water Bridge
Gordie Howe International Bridge
Detroit-Windsor Tunnel
Ambassador Bridge

Plan accordingly and allow extra time if crossing the border Friday morning. Normal operations will resume immediately after the observance.

Driving a quiet Michigan highway can go from peaceful to full emergency braking in about half a second.

One minute, you are cruising along M-32 with trees on both sides, blue sky overhead, and hardly another vehicle in sight. The next minute, a deer has materialized near the road like it was personally assigned to test your reflexes.

There is rarely much warning.

No appointment. No turn signal. No indication of what the deer intends to do next. It may stand perfectly still and stare at you. It may run away. Or it may wait until your vehicle is close enough before deciding that crossing the highway immediately is the most important task of its entire life.

Every Michigan driver knows that particular moment.

Your foot moves toward the brake. Your eyes lock onto the shoulder. And if you spot one deer, you start looking for the others, because the situation never feels completely settled just because the first one moved along.

It is one of those Michigan driving experiences that becomes second nature after enough miles. You watch the pavement, but you also watch the tree line. A peaceful stretch of road through the woods deserves a little extra attention, especially when wildlife could be nearby.

Still, there is something wonderfully Michigan about sharing our roads with the creatures that were wandering these woods long before M-32 had a route marker.

The scenery may be beautiful, the road may be empty, and the drive may feel completely uneventful.

Then a deer appears, and suddenly everybody in the car is wide awake.

Every Labor Day morning, one of the busiest bridges in America shuts down to cars so people can walk across it. 🌉 Five miles of steel and cable over the Straits of Mackinac, and thousands of Michiganders make the crossing on foot before the sun is fully up.

The wind comes off Lake Michigan at 30 miles an hour and it never really feels warm out there, no matter what the calendar says. You can look down through the grating and watch the water move 200 feet below. Kids do it on their parents' shoulders. Grandparents do it slow with a cane. Some folks have walked it 40 years running and can tell you which year it rained sideways.

It is a strange thing to love a bridge. But this one stitched a state together in 1957, and walking it once a year feels like saying thank you. 💙 What year was your first bridge walk, and who talked you into it?

Happy Labor Day to everyone who works hard, provides for their family, and helps keep this country moving forward. Today we celebrate America’s workers, the backbone of this nation. 🇺🇸
